About Colin

Colin works on natural language processing for ancient languages. More specifically, his research interests fall under the following themes:

  • Publishing qualitative benchmarks for the evaluation of machine learning systems
  • Linguistic annotation (part-of-speech, morphology, lemma) of original, viz. unedited, Greek texts
  • Detection of semantic relations between (half-)verses and epigrams

Colin is co-supervised by prof. Els Lefever and dr. Ilse De Vos. His PhD project is embedded in the project on Interconnected Texts. A graph-based computational approach to Byzantine paratexts as nodes between textual transmission and cultural and linguistic developments, an interdisciplinary project in which LT3 joins forces with the Database of Byzantine Book Epigrams and the Database, Document and Content Management research group.
