Last week, Els Lefever, Aaron Maladry, Pranaydeep Singh, and Alessandra T. Cignarella represented LT3 at ACL 2024 in Bangkok, contributing to two key workshops.
WASSA 2024, co-organized by Orphée, took place on Thursday, with Els, Aaron, and Pranaydeep serving as local chairs. This workshop featured the first run of the EXALT (Explainability for Cross-Lingual Emotion in Tweets) shared task, which was a big success, attracting 12 teams who submitted papers! Organisers Els, Pranaydeep and Aaron have every reason to be proud of the result.
At the 6th Workshop on Teaching NLP, Alessandra presented her paper on an teaching high school students about hate speech while fostering computational thinking and AI education for societal impact.
It was an enriching week full of networking opportunities and academic exchange. And, of course, a visit to Bangkok wouldn’t be complete without some sightseeing and a deep dive into Thai culture!
