AMiCA nominated for the Language Industry Awards

Posted on March 3, 2016

The AMiCA project on online safety for young people was nominated for a Language Industries prize. The AMiCA project, a cooperation between the University of Antwerp, Ghent University and the University of Leuven, has been nominated for a LIA (Language Industry Award) in the category “Best language project 2015”. In the AMiCA project we develop technology to guarantee the safety of children on the net. We make use of advanced text and image analysis techniques for large scale monitoring of social media communication. This way, we can detect and prevent, without infringing on privacy, threatening situations such as sexually transgressive behaviour, depression and suicidal feelings, and cyberbullying. Please vote via www.languageindustryawards.eu (until March 15th, 2016, midnight). AMiCA is a project with support from the Flemish government through the Flanders Innovation & Entrepreneurship organisation (VLAIO).
