Julie Mennes obtains PhD

Posted on Sept. 18, 2019

Yesterday, Julie successfully defended her PhD on Facilitating Cross-Disciplinarity: Joining forces of philosophy of science and computational linguistics. She was supervised by Professor Erik Weber and Professor Els Lefever.

Her work mainly revolved around two parts: in part I she developed a conceptual framework which should allow policy makers, funding bodies and researchers to talk about cross-disciplinarity. Part II focuses on facilitating communication within cross-disciplinary teams, to this purpose she developed a concrete action plan and tool to tackle and resolve "problematically ambiguous terms".

Julie is the first LT3 member to obtain a joint degree, congratulations!
