Tekom Belgium at the LT3 offices

It has become a yearly tradition for us to host the local tekom Belgium event on campus, organised by Yamagata Europe and Docwriter. Last Thursday, we welcomed around 30 professionals from the technical communication industry to learn about the latest in AI for digital work instructions.

Jeroen Smets from Sirris gave a first general overview of the many ways in which AI can be used to assist in text-based instruction, translation, standardisation, troubleshooting via image recognition, vision-based operator support and more (See https://www.sirris.be/en/industrial-lab/40-made-real-sirris).

Batist Leman from Azumuta (https://www.azumuta.com/) then gave a live demo, showing how you can go from instructions in MS Word or video to more structured documentation and add translations.

The audience was curious yet also critical (what about consistency? terminology? privacy?) and it was a nice networking opportunity.

Staying in touch with the industry is crucial for our team, especially in the context of our CALM postgraduate. It is always a pleasure to see ex-CALM students at these events and hear about their success at our partner companies.
