Margot Fonteyne has been a member of LT3 since October 2019.
Lay uses of machine translation and second language learning are her main research interests.
As of January 2021, she is working as a PhD student on the WiLMa (Writing in a Second Language with Machine Translation) project. With the WiLMa project, she aims to assess the impact of using machine translation on second language learners' writing product and process.
Before starting her PhD, she worked as a researcher on the ArisToCAT project, using eye-tracking to assess the comprehensibility of machine translated literary texts.
She obtained her Master of Arts degree in Linguistics and Literature (German - Scandinavian Studies) at Ghent University in 2018. She also holds a postgraduate certificate in Computer-Assisted Language Mediation (CALM) from the same university.
